Deam Lake State Rec Area. Several trails + The Knobstone Trail has a trailhead here.
Deam Lake Vista Trial - 3 miles
Deam Lake Trail #1 = 6 miles
Deam Lake Trail #2 = 6 miles
The Knobstone Trail is broken into six (6) car-to-car segments. (Deam Lake is the closest trailhead to Louisville).
1) Deam Lake to Jackson trailhead (5 miles)
2) Jackson Trailhead to New Chapel Trailhead (12 miles)
3) New Chapel Trailhead to Leota Trailhead (9 miles) - very tough hills - poles are recommended)
4) Leota Trailhead to Elk Creek Trailhead (7 miles)
5) Elk Creek Trailhead to Oxley Memorial Trailhead (6 miles)
6) Oxley Memorial Trailhead to Delaney and Spurgeon Trailheads (5 to 10 miles depending on route chosen).
Knobstone Campgrounds are located at Delaney Park (812)883-5101). Clark State Forest (812)294-4306), and Deam Lake State Recreation Area (812)246-5421).

(26 miles) - Corydon, Indiana
"The Adventure Hiking Trail" (Harrison/Crawford County State Forest). The AHT is basically a loop trail of about 24 to 26 miles depending on where you begin. Per reviews on the web - the trail is senic but extremely hard. Trail is also not very well marked per one hiker review.
(27 miles) Clemont, KY
BSA Camp Crooked Creek. (Exit 112 off of I-65.). Official known as The Old Kentucky Home Scout Reservation. Contains 1000 acres with several other camps within the Reservation that scouts may reserve. Contact the Service Center in Louisville to get reservation information. To Top Of Page
Bernheim - Ky's Official Arboretum. This borders Camp Crooked Creek. It contains 40 miles of paths and trails ranging from 1/2 mile to 14 miles. Lake for fishing (state laws apply). 8 miles of paved road for bicycling. One trail - called the Millennium Trail is 13.3 miles long. The Millennium Trail takes you through less traveled areas of Bernheim.

Gist Creek Lake and (exit 35 off of I-64). 325 acre lake has a maximum depth of 47 feet and an average depth of 15 feet. Campground is a small flat field beside the road. Not much here except for boating. To Top Of Page

U.S. Armor Center of Ft. Knox. For the best tours, allow 12 weeks out for reservations. They will allow tours of training areas and you can camp at Camp Carlson, located just off post. You can eat at the mess halls, swim (outdoors or indoors), bowl, golf, etc. Visit Patton Museum and see part of the Berlin Wall, and lots of armour. To Top Of Page
